Yayoi Festival 弥生祭 (Yayoisai)

A traditional festival to celebrate Nikko’s spring

A traditional festival to celebrate Nikko’s spring
This festival, with over 1,200-year history, is held in Nikko Futarasan-jinja Shrine every 13 to 17 April.
11 Hanayatais (floats) decorated with spring flowers parade in the Nikko World Heritage area celebrate coming of spring.
The performance of people working in unison as they run up to Nikko Futarasan-jinja Shrine with their Hanayatai is impressive.
Tourists can also take part in carrying the Hanayatai. Feel free to give it a try!
