Approximately 1.5 million beautiful fully bloomed dogtooth violets cover the 15,000㎡ of mountain slopes in this park. Take the one-hour walking path to the top of the main mountain located 229 metres above sea level. You will feel as if you were walking on a violet carpet!

Located in a Nature Reserve, this park is known for its clumps of dogtooth violets. Over one million violet flowers spread over the 30,000㎡ of hillside slopes. Take a pleasant walk along the well-maintained nature trail through rich woodland where a wide range of wild flowers, plants and trees compete with each other in their vivid beauty.

This park is a popular flower-viewing spot for its 830 cherry trees and 5,000 azaleas landscaping the hillsides. The leisure complex is a beloved place of recreation and relaxation for locals. The highlight of the park is the views of cherry blossoms surrounding the traditional Japanese garden and Utsunomiya Tower.

Oyama Omoigawa Cherry Blossom Food Festival
Omoigawa Zakura, a type of cherry trees characterized by its light red flowers with ten petals, was first discovered in Oyama city. It is for this reason that the city is called the "Home of Omoigawa Zakura".
Oyama Omoigawa Cherry Blossom Food Festival takes place under Omoigawa Zakura in full bloom. It is a big event where you can enjoy springtime performances, exhibition booths and Oyama's delicious specialties.
The festival is held in Oyama Goten Hiroba, a square which was once used by shoguns of the Tokugawa family during their visit to Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Cherry blossoms can be enjoyed not only at the festival site but also on Gionjo-dori and on the bank of Omoigawa River.
Beautiful cherry trees lined along the bank are a sight to behold. The festival site is easily accessible from JR Oyama Station and everyone can fully enjoy the cherry blossom viewing.

Ashikaga Flower Park

The park contains eight thematic gardens delighting visitors with beautiful flowers during all seasons. Must-see sights are the four large wisteria trellises in full bloom around late April and the 80-metre tunnel of white wisterias, renowned as the some of the most beautiful in the world.

Mt. JEANS Nasu

Come and admire the scenery as the entire summit area is filled with 30,000 clumps of five-leaf white azaleas, the largest collection of white azaleas in the country. Take the 45-minute walking trail and experience the tunnel of white azaleas! You can also enjoy the view of the blissful white scenery from the observatory. This azalea is known as “Goyou-tsutsuji” and is a personal emblem of a member of the royal family.

Climbing the 1,000 stone steps of the front approach to Ohirasan-jinja, you will see astounding 2,500 hydrangeas along both sides of the slope. As the locals do, make a wish to the deities in the precincts of the shrine for driving safety, a safe childbirth or a rich harvest!

This park is very popular for its 6,000 hydrangeas. During the “Kurobane Hydrangea Festival” celebrating their bloom, enjoy looking over the hydrangea bushes along the trench from the bridge. The hydrangeas are fantastically illuminated in the evening.

This district is an excellent photo spot when the 100,000㎡ of farmland is ablaze with sunflowers. You can take in the picturesque golden yellow scenery from the observatory and join the “Sunflower Festival” held each summer! Drinks, bowls of shaved ice and local vegetables are available at the open-air market and on weekends you can buy more street foods such as Yakisoba (stir fried noodles) and a variety of sandwiches.
